I LOVE this shade. It really enhances a tan. Downside to it is that because its a neon it chips quickly on manis. It lasts a long time on pedis though :)

South Padre Island

The first 8 years of my life I lived in Brownsville, Tx about 30 minutes from the island. It felt amazing coming back with the family for a weekend & working on a tan ^_-

Can't wait to be home! I need a pedi now!

Tribal

I should've expected this given I'm using my iPhone for photos but my pictures do not look this pixelated on Facebook! Anyway yesterday I was going out for sushi with my bf so I threw on an oversized tribal print top, a brown waist belt and white shorts.

The texas heat is unbearable so the less clothes the better!!!

BTW the orange nail polish I'm wearing is the one from my last post, Essie - Bazooka. It looks a tad more orange here but it is in fact MORE orange irl.

Last night while watching my all time favorite show, Dance Moms, we baked some german chocolate cupcakes with extra nuts AND as bf was throwing the word "Decadent" around he decided we should sink a hershey's kiss with almonds in each cupcake. It was a HIT! The melty chocolate made the cupcakes super moist.

Bazooka by Essie

Favorite mani. Bazooka by Essie. It's a gorgeous bright red orange. I can usually get a good week without chips out of my Essies but not Bazooka because it's a neon :(

I bought the pyramid studs from Ebay for around $3 for a pack of 500 in silver and gold. If you add a top coat over the studs they'll last you the entire length of your mani :)

F21 dark brown sandals. $12! Very comfy.

OPI - Bubble Bath - As seen on Giada De Laurentiis

Here is my manicure with three coats of OPI Bubble Bath no top coat.

I'd say it could still use ONE MORE coat over it just because the nail polish is a little sheer and as opposed to other reviews I found it slightly streaky but regardless, I'm in love. I did my pedicure this color as well and it's just perfect!



Giada De Laurentiis from Food Network. I'm definitely a fan of her show :) she cooks some pretty nice Italian food!

Cutting away split ends!

I hate getting haircuts! I love my hair long and I just hate going into a hair salon and saying "I just need a trim" and you end up with a whole different hair cut! I try to cut my own split ends every month. (I was constantly cutting my own hair in high school so I'm not afraid of chopping away at my own hair, however, if you are, you should probably just go get it done!)



First take a strand of hair and twist it all the way down. You may notice a ton of hairs sticking out on the sides if you have layered hair. You're going to want to cut the down the twisted strand to get the ends of those layered hairs as shown by the black dotted line (I don't always bother with those hairs.) Next you can just cut straight across on the bottom.



Next, take that same strand of hair and loop it. This will expose all of the other little hairs that might have been caught in the twisting. Cut the ends of those hairs. Finally, loop to the other side so that the rest of the hidden hairs are also cut down.

Repeat on the rest of your hair. Although it seems like it might be very time consuming, it's not! I did this today and took about five minutes :)




Also painted my nails today! I LOVE these nail polishes because they last me about a week without chipping when I top it with a Sally Hansen anti-chip top coat! For some reason this color has been a hit! I've gotten tons of compliments on it O_O it's nuts!

Mascara then curl? OR Curl then Mascara?

Yesterday I was looking around sleekmakeup.com's Beauty Tricks section and one caught my eye:

When you curl your lashes put the mascara on first then curl. as the mascara dries it will stay in the curled position and solidify. it will stay curly all day long with no retouching!

My take on this is, from experience, if you apply mascara and then curl, you'll clump up your mascara and lashes wont separate.

What I do (although I have short lashes) is curl, apply mascara and then BLOWDRY.

You have to have a blowdryer with a COLD setting though, otherwise, you'll be burning your eyes with the hot air. First blowdry with the air blowing upwards lifting your lashes for a few seconds. Next, blowdry with the air blowing forward for a few seconds to push your lashes back for a more lifted look. This not only helps give a bit of volume but it also dries your mascara quicker so it'll hold longer.

It's sad but true that this is what my lashes look like when I only wear mascara and curl them. You can barely see on the picture on the left because they're not lifted, they're just flat and curling AFTER applying mascara takes away the thickening aspect of the mascara.

I was really into the Sally Hansen nail polish strips until I saw their leopard print was too yellow. So I went online and ordered these. NOT impressed. They don’t go on evenly on my nails & they bubble up at the edges. It doesn’t even look like they’ll last more than nail polish does!
